I was sent an email from the Ombudsman office the other morning to answer my question I had asked a few months prior, asking if Andre’s term was going to be extended.

It seems it may not be extended. There is an all party committee that will be set up for the selection process, I hope it is open to the press as well.

If you have not signed the petition, only 28 or so have , sign the petition just to show that it matters to have someone working for you! This petition is free on ipetitions and signing it means you support the term of Andre Marin being extended another 5 years. You do not have to make a donation just close the screen and your signature is still recorded.

If Andre Marin is not appointed then I will seriously question whether I can vote for Dalton and his gang next year.

Is AMO behind it ??? The Municipal sector was not happy in regards to the closed meeting complaint investigator issue.

If Andre Marin is replaced , how hard will the next Ombudsman work towards gaining oversight in the MUSH sector?– Municipalities, Universities , Schools and Hospitals, you know the areas where our tax dollars flow but we have no real recourse if a problem arises.

If he is not successful in obtaining another term then he should run for office and we can try to get him to move to Ajax ! Andre Marin for Mayor!!!!!!!!! or MPP.

[edit] Be sure to ask candidates if they support the Ontario Ombudsman having jurisdiction in the MUSH sector. It will be a question on the candidate questionnaire to be sent out.

Normally it would not bother me but all the other incumbents have declared, we had 10 names or so in the ward 2 by-election . Where are the majority of those that wanted the job before? Joe did this in 2006 and it bugged me back then , I heard that Joe was in the position of deciding to run for Mayor or not — he ran as a councillor in his last Municipal election , so that scenario was a reasonable reason to delay filing papers. What is Renrick waiting for ? File already if you are planning to run.

Plus, who is going to challenge for the Mayor’s job? an election without a credible candidate just adds to the apathy. We will not increase voter turnout with a sleeper of a Mayor’s race.

I have received some excellent submissions for the questionnaire.

No challengers yet for Joanne Dies or Pat Brown and no one has filed yet for the School Board slots-(Public).

Now the question is: Is Scott going to run? [edit] Yes he has filed. Renrick is the only one left.

The majority have declared , Renrick has not, which is funny because when he was a challenger his name was in the first day nominations were open, what is the delay? Scott Crawford was never fast out of the gate if I remember but he is in the position of not living in the wards (1 & 2) he represents due to realignment. Past election results by poll show his strongest support was in the area that he lives and that is now ward 3.

The only race is Colleen Jordan and Kim Dowds for Regional Councillor of wards 3 and 4.

There are website rules with candidates, a sitting councillor that has a website for the purpose of communication can not campaign on that same website. The communication website is covered under their office expenses and similar type costs. The election website is included in what they can spend to get elected. A sitting councillor can not use any Town staff or resources that are paid for with tax dollars on election expenses , email address or telephone lines and that would extend to blackberries I would assume.

Are you aware of Proxy voting? One person can vote by proxy for another. If you vote but your neighbour just can’t be bothered, ask them to give you their vote. You can vote your choice twice.

As you all know I have been busy with my Mother and her living arrangements. When her house is sold I will be back to my regular self and be more plugged into what is happening but in the mean time I am relying on others.
