I’m sure he will be running again. No reason why he wouldn’t

  2. Rob MacArthur Says:

Having no formal municipal politics experience, one should not try to start at a multi level position. Won’t be supporting Mr. Gaynor. Will be supporting Mr. Crawford who has announced he is running.

It’s time for change … changes need to be made on Town Council … out with the old in with the new … get the brooms out … let’s get sweeping

    Karem: So you running? :)

  4. SM Says:

I have to disagree Rob. Whether or not this person has a political background should not be held against them when it comes to choosing a candidate to represent us. Did Toronto’s Adam Giambrone have any experience prior to becoming a city councillor?. Aside from his recent troubles, he ended up looking after the TTC. Why should the lack of political experience deter voters from electing Khari Gaynor or anyone else who chooses to run ?. I suggest waiting to see what these candidates have to offer before making a decision who to vote for.

It’s time to get some new faces on both Town and Regional concil. We need fresh ideas and people who will actually get things done. The current bunch have been in power for YEARS and nothing ever changes. I guess we can blame the voters of this town for that.

Karem: I emailed him the day before yesterday to welcome him to the election and asked for his position on some regional issues. I have not heard back yet however it is a long weekend so I will wait until next week but if no response is forthcoming, then we know who he is modelling his behaviour from!

I think its funny that this new candidate is running Scott instead of Renrick. Why run regional your first try when you have no real experiance or community roots. I’ve never heard of this guy before he entered. Scott is the only Councillor who does his job properly at council.

I wonder how much money the Mayor (or his family) and Renrick are going to raise for this guy…. what a joke

  6. michael baker Says:

Please explain … ” Scott is the only Councillor who does his job properly at council.” Thank you !

  7. SM Says:

I have to agree Michael. I found that comment laughable too.

I’d also like to see Anderson’s job become an elected position. Time to get some new faces on both councils. I don’t care whether we have to elect a taxi cab driver or barber to the regional council. Anybody is better than what we’ve got now. Time for some new ideas !

I had a nice reply from Mr. Gaynor this morning - Family Day.

Kurtis, what is this about community roots? what is that based on? I have stated in the past that this expectation of living here forever is unreasonable and exlusionary to new Ajax citizens.

I would have no problem voting for someone new , with new ideas and new visions as long as they were qualified in terms of education and passionate in their beliefs.

Maybe our next councillors should be new to this Town, say lived here less then 5 years! then we can’t complain that everything stays the same old same old etc.?

  9. admin Says:

My last comment may have given the impression that Khari Gaynor is a new resident, his email to me states he has lived in the Region for 15 years and has been an Ajax Resident for 10 years.

So people, what is the expectation level of residency?

What defines experience in the Municpal level? must run a few elections as a looser then finally win ? Be a friend of a current councillor , a son of a past Mayor or Councillor ?

Kurtis , you say you never heard of Gaynor, you don\’t read our citizen advisory council minutes when they are ready for publication then. He is a member.

  10. Kurtis McAleer Says:

I know he sits on a citizen committee… big deal… How many times has he attended council? or town halls? I’ve never seen this guy once around Ajax. Sitting on a committee doesnt mean he has experiance

  11. SM Says:

Karem, have you invited him to this blog?. It would be a good place for him to launch his views.

I don’t care whether this guy has any political experience or not. We need new people with fresh ideas. I’d like to hear his views before I make my decision, but I’m willing to give him a chance along with anyone else who chooses to run.

Listen… the current bunch of councillors have been on the job so long that they think they’re untouchable. They don’t bother advertising at election time because they’re guaranteed to be re-elected. When was the last time you seen any lawn signs?. Have you ever received anything in the mail?. How about a knock on the door?.

This is why I think we need to elect some new people. The problem is with trying to convince residents to get out and vote.

Karem: I send all candidates a questionaire closer to the summer campaign period. Any candidate is welcome to comment also and I do offer an alternative method to read people. We have lot’s of time.

  12. SM Says:

    Oh… and by the way.

Could it be possible that some Ajax residents are voting based on the political parties that each of these candidates support?.

    Could be.
