Ward 2 — This is driving me nuts!

Normally it would not bother me but all the other incumbents have declared, we had 10 names or so in the ward 2 by-election . Where are the majority of those that wanted the job before? Joe did this in 2006 and it bugged me back then , I heard that Joe was in the position of deciding to run for Mayor or not — he ran as a councillor in his last Municipal election , so that scenario was a reasonable reason to delay filing papers. What is Renrick waiting for ? File already if you are planning to run.
Plus, who is going to challenge for the Mayor’s job? an election without a credible candidate just adds to the apathy. We will not increase voter turnout with a sleeper of a Mayor’s race.
I have received some excellent submissions for the questionnaire.
No challengers yet for Joanne Dies or Pat Brown and no one has filed yet for the School Board slots-(Public).

This election will be just like the movie Groundhog Day. Nothing ever changes.
Maybe Renrick is waiting to see whether anyone else is running against him. You do realize it’s only February!.
You should seriously considering running for council. You will have lots of support and shouldn’t have any trouble getting donations.
These long-time councillors don’t spend much on the election. I can’t remember the last time Parish posted election signs. I only recall once and that was when somebody ran against him.
Thanks for the support but no I am not running at this time. Hey let’s dig up that Kip guy to run for Mayor again. I think he ran in the 2nd election I lived in Ajax for. Someone has run against him each time but for some reason no one thinks the person is a “serious” contender. Even if he is the greatest Mayor the Town of Ajax has ever had, he has to be accountable and a credible challenger put’s him on notice that it is not a job for life!

Lisa Patel will run again in Ward 4. I have heard it from her directly. I’m not sure why she hasn’t declared yet, but unless something has recently changed in a drastic way, she will be on the ballot again as she was in 2006.

Only partially true regarding the school trustee nominations. I myself fled my nomination papers on January 4th.

I think you’re right about the guy who ran for Mayor (Kip). I can’t remember his last name but I think he was Dutch. He’s the only one I can think of who actually put some effort into trying to win.
These other candidates who have chosen to run against the current members of council need to get organized and put 100% effort into promoting their policies and introducing themselves to the voters.
Don’t waste time. Start now!
