Public Meeting tonight - Angus Drive near Salem Site Plan Application

The land at the corner of Salem and Mandrake across from an existing neighbourhood will be developed.
Hopefully they can have a right out shortcut to the lane close to the 401 westbound onramp bypassing the corner of Angus and Mandrake.

Many years ago I attended a public planning meeting discussing this area & the staff member announced that the intention is that the Salem/401 area is being planned as “the gateway to Ajax”. I disagreed then & I do now. There is no gateway to Ajax & there never will be … based on what I’ve seen on the planning books. And summertime is such a good time to get people/residents out to meetings.

Well… I’m not really surprised that this bit of land is being developed. It’s really not much good for anything else. The only problem that might occur with having additional homes built there is the traffic. It’s already a busy place and there’s a highschool close by which doesn’t help matters.
My neighbourhood is from the 60s and was always very peaceful. But with all the development going on along the Salem Road area… our street is like a freeway (sometimes it doubles for a race track for drag racers). They use our street as a shortcut. I can’t see things getting any better. Every last piece of land is being developed.
That was the main concern of the residents that were attending, not one person was against the development because they always knew it would come. Traffic was the issue for everyone and steps to take for calming.
